Enjoy nature

East Jutland is lucky to have a rich and varied countryside which supports a diverse flora and fauna, a varied agricultural production and which serves as a venue for a wide range of recreational pursuits.

Protecting nature and the countryside is thus important, not least in light of the fact that the towns and cities are growing.

Unique landscape

Thanks to the Ice Age, East Jutland boasts many beautiful and interesting landscapes with valleys intersected by streams and rivers as well as its stunning coastal landscape. The uniqueness of the landscape is a result of the interplay between the visual features, the countryside, the cultural history and the geology of the area.

Woods, water and wildlife

We have beaches flying the Blue Flag, which guarantees good bathing water quality, and woods with paths for walkers, cyclists and others users. The varied countryside includes lakes, meadows, pools and ponds, moors, heathland as well as cultural-historical treasures such as grave mounds, banks and alleys – all valuable natural and cultural attractions protected by legislation or preservation regulations. Some are also designated NATURA 2000 areas, which are protected areas of international importance.
